Jury Verdict- 98% of Expert’s Opinion

DNLC is pleased to announce that on February 5, 2013 after a 10 day trial the jury reached a verdict in at 98% of the owner’s expert’s opinion of just compensation.  In the eminent domain case, filed by Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency, the expert for our client testified that the total amount of just compensation was $465,000.  The government’s expert testified just compensation was $195,000.  The jury reached a verdict and awarded our client, the property owner, $455,000.

Prior to the trial, the government offered to settle the case for $250,000.  Our client submitted a demand to settle the case at $330,000.  The jury’s verdict was $125,000 above his demand to settle and $205,000 above the government’s offer to settle the case.
